Skills for Working Life (Land-based animals)

Collage

Target    14 to 19 year olds and adults wishing to increase their levels of independence.

Course   NPTC Entry level 2 & 3 Award, Certificate & Diploma. Giving candidates the opportunity to learn the basic requirements in working life with animals. While developing work based personal development skills.

Aims      Opportunity to gain knowledge in rural working life. To develop confidence & understanding of basic needs in horse & animal care. Build work based communication skills with the ability to work in a team and individually. Take on responsibility for themselves and others. Improve relationship skills, social understanding.

Content   Preparing for work -  Health & Safety at work.

Personal & social development - Working towards goals, as part of a team, problem solving & self development in daily life.

Vocational - Recognize Horse types and equipment, Horse & animal health care, Horse and small animal handling, daily stable duties.

Outcome Provide a basic working confidence. Giving the opportunity to progress to the equine industry or further education & training. Be an effective team member with improved communication skills. Building a credit portfolio and recognized qualification.
